Season of Gratitude

Today marks 2 months and 2 days at my new job. I’m doing IT production support at a state agency. Perhaps the most hated! If you’ve been reading along, you know that I’ve had some problems swallowing the responsibilities. However, everything always work out for the best.

Last week, I had to stay home for the entire week - sick. If I were in a corporate IT job, my name would probably be up for the next round of layoffs. In addition, I had Friday as a holiday free and clear. Around the same time, I made a life altering decision. Thankfully, this position will allow me the time and energy that I will need for personal recovery. On top of all of that, my supervisor and co-workers have been extremely supportive during my illness, and helped to pick up my slack.

My job is also teaching me how to serve and be humble, how to be calm and cheerful despite the situation. It is proving to be an incredible opportunity for personal growth. It turns out that this position is instrumental in transforming me into who I am to become. Rather than something I have to endure, it is providing me with people insights, downtown walks, service skills, time off to heal, energy to rejuvenate, money to live, and a window into what it means to have compassion.

Today, I am really thankful for my job! How about you?
