How to Let God Help You

This post is a part of the Season of Gratitude Series. You can participate by writing a gratitude post and telling me about it. For more details, click here.
The book that brought it home. How To Let God Help You is an anthology of letters written by Myrtle Fillmore, co-founder of the Unity Church.
Myrtle Fillmore suffered from tuberculosis at a time when it was a terminal illness. She managed to cure herself with affirmations. She did so by focusing her attention on being a child of God and what that meant. She concluded that as a child of God she did not inherit illness and was an heir to perfect health. In today’s speak, it might be referred to as activating the Law of Attraction.
The collection of letters were responses by Myrtle for requests for prayer that she received. It consists of 37 letters. What struck me was that in each letter she says, “God is all there is.” After a while it just sounded like the same letter to the same person over and over again. There were other salient ideas throughout, but every single letter held that nugget of Truth.
For a week, that phrase ruled my thoughts. Imagine a life where I knew that God was all there was. No fear, no worry, only God showing up everywhere. It shattered one of my lens forever and gave me a new perspective. More than that I gained a level of understanding, beyond just intellectually knowing a thing to be true to experiencing it in my life. I am still working on living that Truth.
I have read several books that shifted my life views: Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki which gave me a new perspective on money, A Path to Love by Deepak Chopra that helped me with the notion of Love universal and personal, The Way of the Peaceful Warrior by Dan Millman which was an early read that helped me to see my potential. Sometimes I stumble upon a book that rocks the core of my beliefs or reinforces it in a way that does not make it rigid, but fertile.
Are you thankful for any books that fuel your way of life?

i know this is an old thread, but i wanted to comment anyway.
“books that fuel my way of life”?
well the first book to open me up to the possibilities of life was ‘Way of the Peaceful Warrior” by Dan Millman. i read that right after college and my life was never the same.
Now, i read so many different books, find so many interesting nuggets of truth, that its hard to single out one or two books that stand out. but if i had to, “The Presence Process” by Micheal Brown, which helped me understand how emotions and the situations that trigger them are linked and are part of a larger purpose; and “Wheels of Light” by Anodea Judith, a book on chakras, are two that come to mind.
those are 2 biggies for me…

Thanks for taking the time to comment Rado.
I got The Way of the Peaceful Warrior in high school. My Dad was always teaching us about shaping our lives. He gave us a lot of books. I think I would have liked some more lessons on what to shape it into.
I’ll check out Wheels of Light and The Presence Process. They sound like cool reads.
Do come again.
