Honor Your Family
In many of the countries in Africa, it is a tradition to pour libation to celebrate and give thanks for ancestors and family. Today, I am grateful for my family. I honor them with this African tradition.
To the east, the west, the north, and south…Ashe
For all that’s within that expresses on the outer…Ashe
To my father for teaching me that God is within…Ashe
To my mother for living with flair and passion…Ashe
To my brother for keeping me grounded…Ashe
To my grandparents who took me in and raised me as their own…Ashe
To my aunts and uncles for nurturing me and being multiple parents…Ashe
To my cousins for enveloping me in love…Ashe
To my in-laws for broadening my horizons…Ashe
To my nieces and nephews for being my bridge to the future…Ashe
For the lines of ancestry that led me to this point in time…Ashe
For the lines of descendents that will spring from this moment…Ashe
Ashe, Ashe, ASHE!
