1 Square Inch of Your Skin! [Amazing Facts About Our Body]

Today, give thanks for every square inch of your body. Appreciate the ingenuity of a neural network more complex than the worldwide web. Give thanks for the organ responsible for holding you all in and being the first line of defense against pollutants, all while sensing the wind.

Give thanks for the intricate irrigation system that carries oxygen, nutrients, and immunity throughout your body. A system that is driven by your heart which beats one hundred thousand times a day (give or take a couple thousand).

How about giving thanks for your nose hairs? They warm up and strain the air that passes down your airways and into your lungs. The bronchii in your lungs continue to filter so that pure oxygen is passed throughout the rest of your body.

Like Scott Adams, the creator of Dilbert, you can give thanks for your brain. Made up of 80% water, your brain sends messages throughout your body - instructions that tells it to vocalize a sentence, or wiggle your finger, or blink an eye. It’s the part of your body responsible for visualizing, remembering, adding, comprehending, and much more.

Today, I give thanks for my body. I say thank you to my entire digestive system for massaging the food that I eat and parsing the nutrients from the waste. I say thank you to my glands for regulating my moods and keeping me alert. I say thank you to my fat and muscles for working together to provide energy. Today I say, thank you body. I love you.
