[...] My friend Nneka invited the world to contribute a post about gratitude this month as those of us in the US are celebrating Thanksgiving. Gratitude is a large part of Bruce and my life — at each evening meal we give thanks for at least one thing from our day AND we take time to verbally acknowledge each other and ourselves too. This ritual is deeply satisfying. [...]

I’m grateful that I’m breathing. I’m grateful for my wife. I’m grateful for my stepson. I’m grateful for God. I’m grateful for my apartment. I’m grateful for my regular bi-weekly paycheck. I’m grateful for my computer. I’m grateful for the mountain ranges that I get to see everytime I drive home from work. I’m grateful for the ability to make a difference in the lives of others. I’m grateful for my sobriety. I’m grateful for my stomach. I’m grateful for my blogs. I’m grateful for all the other blogs out there that add to my day. I’m grateful for Firefox. I’m grateful for Microsoft. I’m grateful for IBM. I’m grateful for President Bush. I’m grateful for the Democratic Party. I’m grateful that I live in a country where both the President and his opposition can speak freely. I’m grateful for the Green Party. I’m grateful for the Libertarian Party. I’m grateful that I’m not a member of any political party. I’m grateful that I was able to tell myself that I wanted to write a gratitude list, and I did it! I’m grateful to Nneka for starting the A Season of Gratitude project
