Open Mic: Questions About Living a Balanced Life
If you're new here, check out the Best of Balanced Life Center and be sure to subscribe to receive the latest updates via email or RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
The name of the blog is Balanced Life Center, yet there isn’t one article on living a balanced life. How odd! To remedy the situation, I’ll be doing a series on balanced living in the near future, but first I need your help.
- What are some of the questions you have about balanced living?
- How do you live a balanced life?
- What does a balanced life mean to you?
When I started the site, my intention was to write about how the 5 major aspects of life (financial, health, relationships, spirituality, and purpose) dovetail to form a full, balanced life. Since then, the site has taken a decidedly spiritual turn as I feel I have the most to share in this arena. I don’t like it when people tell me to do things they don’t do personally and I didn’t want to be one of “those” people.
Since the inception of the site, my life has rounded out quite a bit. Though, as I mentioned in the article on building capacity, I’m still not playing at the level I wish in every area. I’m learning right along with all of you. And it’s fun!
I’m looking forward to all of your questions and working on this new series.
In Spirit,
Nneka

Hi Nneka,
When you asked what I thought a balanced life was, an image of a teeter-totter came into mind. I can remember as a child loving to ride up and down with my friends. I also remember the thrill of standing in the middle, or the fulcrum, while kids rode up and down at the ends. It was often tricky to stay standing when one person decided to push hard off the ground. But it was possible to stay balanced if you didn’t stray too far from the center.
As I contemplate what a balanced life would look like to me, I think it would mean staying at neutral through life’s ups and downs. Not getting too attached to the highs or to the lows. It is like living in the fulcrum AND enjoying the ride.
LOL,
Paula

Funk.
I would like to read a life-balance article about over coming being in a funk or a rut & keeping your energy high.
Namaste.

In the midst of our journey, it is inevitable to see the dark side of life. Others might fall to the deepest part of it but others might survive and see the bright side. As pendulum swings, there is no guarantee that life will always be beautiful. There are chances that we might bump and collapse but what is important is that we know how to dance to the rhythm. Life without problems is dull, problems will make us strong in facing life’s challenges and this will help us to be a better and stronger person. And through this you’ll know where your life is heading to.

Great question Nneka! I think a balanced life is based around simply doing what makes you joyful, and yet keeping up with our responsibilities. In fact, being joyful lets us go out and perform our responsibilities even better, and have more of ourselves to give to the world!
