My first ever article for this site is now posted. It’s called Goal Achievement and Spirituality. It is my attempt to reconcile a conflict that I frequently wrestle with between setting and achieving material goals, and my ultimate goal of experiencing enlightenment 24/7.
I hope you enjoy. That page does not have comments, so you can leave your comments here, or send feedback directly. I’m open:-)

I loved your article and you are right the quest for enlightenment and personal development are lifelong pursuits, perhaps we should also think of them living and that will help ease the suffering. Congratulations for being able to sustain moments of enlightenment for 30 minutes, that is an accomplishment in my opinion. Maybe you can tell me what the sound of one hand clapping is.
Your approach states a commonality that exists in personal development: the search for something better in ones life. You state that to accomplish your goals you must be willing to do what you have to do. You might suffer which is to sacrifice or lose something of value, non-attachment, letting go, having faith that the Universe has your back, goal setting (God helps those what help themselves and enlightenment (peace of mind.)
In my life they happened in a different order, suffering which induced the willingness to create positive change in my life. Non-attachment that lead to the discovery of my life’s goal and enlightenment that keeps me focused, vigilant and thankful everyday.
Thank you for putting into words the journey of my life.

T, thank you for taking the time to comment on the article and sharing a bit of your story.
The moments of enlightenment may be for 30 minutes, but they are few and far between. Ask for the sound of one hand clapping…what is the sound of a man thinking?
Cheers,
