Have you ever resolved to do something one day, only to encounter extreme resistance the next?

Yesterday I boldly posted about my 3 Step Life Transformation Program. Today I dingolayed (that’s a Trinidadian term), and toutoulveyed (another Trini term), until the end of the day. I am finally getting my writing done now.

I don’t have any explanations of what the resistance is. Sometimes I think of it like the law of inertia: An obect at rest or in motion stays at rest or in motion unless some external force is applied. Then again, I only encounter the resistance once the decision is made. I was meditating daily before I made the announcement. Why wait until the last minute today?

Understanding the resistance proves fruitless. It’s almost as if it wants you to spend your energy trying to understand it so you could forget your desires. Pushing past it and doing what you intended to do anyway tips the scales in your favor. You don’t meet it with equal force. In fact, you don’t meet it at all. YOu use your energy to follow through with your intention. Then you realize that the resistance fades. It disappears as does the shadow on a wall when you take the spotlight off it.

So tomorrow, when I wake up and meet Mr. Resistance (if he shows up), I’ll say hello, put on my sneakers and go for my walk.
