You’re right. We should live from a base of service rather than trying to get as much stuff as we can.

Sherri, I never really thought about it that way, but you are so right. So often we think that if we’re having fun, it’s not service, but it’s even better that way because your joy is shared as well.

Steve, asking makes all the difference. Better than that is offering, like holding the elevator door for someone.

Hello Nneka, my new friend. This is my first visit to your blog, and I look forward to reading and getting to know you. You have been of such great service to me, already, with your recent visit to my blog, and your thoughtful comments.

Sometimes we think being of service must be very complicated, or expensive, in terms of time and money — sacrifice! — but I think the spirit of service is much simpler: just being present, in the moment, with whoever you are with, family, friend or stranger; taking the time (and it’s not so much) to connect, to be interested & compassionate; even just to smile.
