One day our generation
Is gonna rule the population
So we keep on waiting
Waiting on the world to change
We, the 30-somethings in the Northwestern part of the world, have at our disposal all the technology, knowledge, and resources to do anything that we want to do - including change the world. However, as John Mayer says, we are waiting on the world to change.
As an example, there’s a fervent discussion going on over at Steve Olson’s about the validity of drug laws. Different people have different reasons, but most people in the discussion agree that the drug laws in the US are foolish. There is much discussion as to whether the Democrats or Republicans are to blame, along with discussion about how obsolete the Libertarian party is. The striking part is that there is little discussion on what can be done to change the existing drug laws.
With the convergence of social media and the growing interest in principles like the Law of Attraction, we can bring about the changes we wish to see in the world.
Social Media
And when you trust your television
What you get is what you got
Cause when they own the information, oh
They can bend it all they want
That might well be true, but last I checked, 1.5 million pages of Steve Pavlina’s website is being read a month. That’s more than the number of people who live on the island of Trinidad. With that much currency, how are we using it to bring about change in the world? We have people’s attention, what are we saying to them? Personally, I am working on shifting the consciousness of the world. What are you doing with your audience?
The Law of Attraction
There is much talk in the personal development circle about the Law of Attraction. People are amazed by it. All sorts of personal gain is being saught through its use. It’s time we start using the Law of Attraction to create the world we want to live in.
If it’s peace, freedom, and prosperity for all that we seek, we can use the same principle to attract those virtues into our lives and the world. Rather than pontificate over the problems that exist, let us use the tools that we are aware of to change the world. We can think, vision, and speak into being the world in which we wish to live.
Think Global, Act Local
It’s hard to beat the system
When we’re standing at a distance
One day I looked around my life and discovered that even with the house, husband, and honored, well-paid position, I was not happy. I had numbed myself to what was going on in the world. I began to question why I even existed. I felt like I was wasting my life. I had hit all the milestones on schedule, but I was not on purpose.
Not everyone has to be a reknowned blogger, or a philanthropic banker, or a mystical politician. However, everyone has a purpose. You have something that is yours to do. Once you awaken to who you truly are, you can’t play small anymore.
Sometimes when I look in my living room, I am so overwhelmed by the stuff everywhere that I just don’t know where to begin the clean up. At those times, I start with one corner for a set period of time. So it is with the world. Today, it may appear as though everything is a mess. You don’t have to clean it all up. You can do your part whereever you are. You can use your skills in your community. You can share your message. You have a voice, and hands, and a purpose in your heart. You can indeed be the change you want to see in the world.
Begin to act today! All of the resources will convene so that you can complete what you set out to do. Whether it’s politics, teaching, software development, ministering, creating music, being a mom, or building businesses, it is yours to do. Bring your awareness with you and your corner of the world will change. Soon the corners will begin to abut and the world will be a different place.
Stop waiting, start changing!
In Spirit,
Nneka
