Fab 5 on Friday 01/19/07
5 Fabulous posts for the week of 01/19/07:
Is success predicated on failure? Whatever happened to that straight A student in your class? Do you think they moved through life never failing? Do you think that you have to fail in order to succeed? What about those we consider successful, did they ever fail in their chosen path? How did they recover? These are some of the questions Steve asks in his post, Is There a Relationship Between Early Failure and Future Success.
Learning to master your emotions is prerequisite to living a whole life. Mastery is not ignoring them. Emotional mastery is about recognizing your emotions and choosing whether or not you want to live by them. Christine brilliantly explains this in her post, Feeling, Doing, and Choosing Emotions.
Part of applying spirituality to life is getting the practical stuff done. In Do You Need Life Insurance, LAL questions the necessity of life insurance as a 20-something. What’s interesting is the comment left by a reader of the blog. Often we think about the material trappings that money can buy, but the commenter talks about the time and peace of mind that money can afford us.
There are many non-profits that can benefit from promoting gift registries. “There may be other benefits that could result from something like this but three are obvious: firstly, the library gets a cost effective way of adding titles to its collection without spending over its budget, secondly the library gets titles it wants rather than donated titles of dubious value and thirdly, the librarian retains ‘control’ of title selection and collection development.”
The Money Tortoise informs us of the many preventive care benefits of Medicare in An Ounce Of Prevention.
