Throughout history, man (and yes, woman) has tried to make sense of our universe (earth, space, stars, and beyond). When he could not make sense of it, he created “gods” to fill in the gaps. For example, early in history man did not understand what made the rain fall from the sky, and so, a rain God was created so that man could get water from the sky. Today, we have meteorologists. To a certain degree, we understand weather patterns and can even predict when it’s going to rain. We have solved the mystery. When meteorologists (the scientists, not the personalities) get the weather wrong, we just chalk it up to not enough information.

The idea of God moved from a range of deities responsible for specific tasks, to a man in the sky that doles out accolades and punishment, to a merciful being, to a God of parent-type love. Always we mold God into a Being that fits our lives, an idea that explains what is outside our range of explainability. According to the book, the History of God, we mold God into our image and likeness.

In a world, where science has provided reliable answers, so much so that we can be assured that given enough time it will be able to explain all phenomenon, where is the space for God? Even if we can explain, with a great degree of certainty, the science of healing through changing your mind, how do we explain the underlying essence of life that is the healing?

How do you know that God exists? That it’s not all in our minds. That we aren’t creating this complex explanation for a simple scientific phenomena.

For me, it’s a feeling. I can tell you what it’s like, but I can’t tell you what it is. I can’t offer any external proof that God does, with certainty, exist. It is, for me, a deep, persistent, abiding Presence that I sense in my being. It courses through me and all around me. It yearns to express through me. It created me so that It can express.

Do you question the existence of God? If you believe He exists, how do you know?
